A Great Model Comparison Against the Cosmological Constant

چکیده

Recently, a covariant formulation of non-equilibrium phenomena in the context General Relativity was proposed order to explain from first principles observed accelerated expansion Universe, without need for cosmological constant, leading GREA theory. Here, we confront theory against latest data, including type Ia supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations, cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, Hubble rate data chronometers and recent $H_0$ measurements. We perform Markov Chain Monte Carlo analyses Bayesian model comparison, by estimating evidence via thermodynamic integration, find that when all aforementioned are included, but no prior on $H_0$, difference log-evidence is $\sim -9$ favor GREA, thus resulting overwhelming support latter over constant cold dark matter ($\Lambda$CDM). When also include priors either Cepheids or Tip Red Giant Branch measurements, then due tensions with CMB found be statistically equivalent $\Lambda$CDM.

A new cosmological constant model

We propose a new cosmological model with a time-dependent cosmological constant (Λ ∝ 1/t), which starting at the Planck time as ΛP l ∼ M P l, evolves to the present-day allowed value of Λ0 ∼ 10M P l. This scenario is supported by non-critical string theory considerations. We compute the age of the Universe and the time-dependence of the scale factor in this model, and find general agreement wit...

Cosmological Perturbations and the Running Cosmological Constant Model

We study the matter density fluctuations in the running cosmological constant (RCC) model using linear perturbations in the longitudinal gauge. Using this observable we calculate the growth rate of structures and the matter power spectrum, and compare them with the SDSS data and other available data of the linear growth rate. The distribution of collapsed structures may also constraints models ...

The Spherical Collapse Model in a Universe with Cosmological Constant

The spherical collapse model was first developed by Gunn & Gott 1 for a flat universe with no cosmological constant. It assumes that the process of formation of bound objects in the universe can be at first approximation described by evolution of an uniformly overdense spherical region in otherwise smooth background. Despite its simplicity, the model has been widely used to explain properties o...

A model for self-tuning the cosmological constant

The vanishing cosmological constant in the four dimensional space-time is obtained in a 5D Randall-Sundrum model with a brane (B1) located at y = 0. The matter fields can be located at the brane. For settling any vacuum energy generated at the brane to zero, we need a three index antisymmetric tensor field AMNP with a specific form for the Lagrangian. For the self-tuning mechanism, the bulk cos...
